We at the Equine Rescue and Protection Humane Society Inc. of the U.S. believe that if we put the information out there to educate soon to be horse onwers: Maybe we can stop some of the neglect, abuse and cruelty that happens to these Majestic creatures. Three essintal thing that all Equines need!!! Equine are any horse,pony,mini,donkey,mule,
1. Food: can vary from horse to horse, just like any person.
Food can be a sweet feed mixture, oats, pelleted feeds, a mash mixture for seniors who may not have many teeth left.
Hay or hay supplement must be a part of daily diet.
Many horses need different vitiman supplements depending on many things such as age, condition, use as well as other factors that may figure into the situation the horse came from.
2. Water: is a must for every horse in every situation: It does not vary it must be avaliable at all times 24 hours a day 7 days a week 365 days a year they can not exist with out it !!! Snow and Ice do not count a water in winter months. Please always have plenty of fresh clean water.
3. Shelter: is a must for all horses shelter from the elements: in warm climats shelter from the sun, wind, rain and in years like winter of 2009-2010 from the snow. It can be a 3 sided run in shed, or a fancy barn with stalls. Bust all horses need some kind of shelter. In colder climates a warmer barn it much better where the horses can be kept in if a ice storm, or sever 30 below zero winds are houling.
